Artbank Sydney presents We Are Surrounded by Oceans, an exhibition by Salote Tawale, developed through an engagement with the Artbank collection. Working across video, performance, sculpture and installation, Tawale explores cultural identity through the use of everyday materials such as calico, acrylic paint and nylon rope—urban substitutes that reflect experiences of diaspora and the shifting transmission of cultural knowledge. Drawing on the collection as both archive and catalyst, We Are Surrounded by Oceans traverses memory, embodied experience and personal histories, positioning the collection as an ongoing conversation between artist, archive and audience.
Featured artists include: Benjamin Akuila, Mia Boe, Mark Maurangi Carrol, Michelle Coleman, Karla Dickens, Ken Done, Scott Duncan, Yvonne Koolmatrie, Dylan Mooney, Ryan Presley, Kim Wandin, Paul Wood, Talia Smith, Jimmy John Thaiday, and Salote Tawale.

Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship — The Myer Foundation
Dr Ryan Presley has been awarded a 2025 Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship, recognising his ambitious, research-driven practice across painting, installation, and interactive media. The Fellowship will support the next phase of Presley’s work, extending his ongoing projects and enabling new public outcomes through expanded production, collaboration, and presentation. Inferno — Milani Gallery
Dr Presley presents Inferno, a solo exhibition featuring his recent interactive arcade prototype. A video game artwork based on his ongoing Fresh Hell series. Installed in Gallery 3 at Milani Gallery, the exhibition is part of the November suite of exhibitions, alongside Judy Watson and Natalya Hughes. Inferno opens 8 November and continues to 29 November 2025. A closing celebration will also be hosted on the 29 November at Milani Gallery. [More information here]
